Draft Regional Water Conservation and Efficiency Objectives
Draft Regional Water Conservation and Efficiency Objectives
Objectifs Francais
Overview
Public comment was invited from March 15-June 8, 2007 on draft regional water conservation and efficiency objectives for the Great Lakes--St. Lawrence River Basin.
The public comment period has now ended.
The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Sustainable Water Resources Agreement was signed by the Great Lakes Governors and Premiers on December 13, 2005. In the Agreement, the Governors and Premiers committed to develop regional water conservation and efficiency objectives which would then be used to inform the development of State and Provincial water conservation and efficiency goals and objectives. These objectives will later shape State and Provincial water conservation programs.
The draft objectives available for public comment had been developed by representatives of the Great Lakes States, Ontario and Québec with input from Tribes and First Nations, and regional stakeholders. Following a review of the public comments, revisions will be considered to the draft objectives. Action by the Regional Body on finalized objectives is anticipated later this year.
